Betsy Porritt - A Mediated and Partial Zone
Betsy Porritt - A Mediated and Partial Zone
What dwells in the mediated and partial zone between one being and another? What language, materials, systems and emotions structure that space? The poems in this pamphlet turn everyday connections into strangely textured encounters. The house is remade as civic space, kinship with others is depicted in the most private of rituals, and minor acts of disobedience exert the maximum force of resistance. These poems emerged out of an installation/experiment that took place at LIMBO in Margate which asked: when we touch each other, what else is touching us?
A Mediated and Partial Zone is Betsy Porritt's first pamphlet. She has published poems and sound works in print and online. She was shortlisted for the 2018 Desperate Literature Short Fiction Prize and some of her sound/collage experiments can be found here. Betsy is currently based in the Midlands and at the University of Birmingham.
