notes for the next robert lax

In this selection of previously unpublished poems, put together by Paul J. Spaeth of the Robert Lax Archives, we find the poet’s signature vertical lines, his minimalist, contemplative poetry and his sense of humour as he considers writing practice, religion and poetic process as well as reflecting on home.

Robert Lax (1915-2000) was born in Olean, New York and went to Columbia University where he set a precedent and pattern of life for the Beat movement with his close friends Ad Reinhardt and Thomas Merton. Gradually, Lax moved from New York and settled on Greek islands, first Kalymnos, then Patmos, remote from his previous New York life.

notes for the next robert lax is a 40 page limited edition printed on Mohawk Superfine and section sewn, with Colorplan endpapers and a Gmund Bier cover.
