THE CLAY DUMP

Lucy Gribble lives in the shadow of a clay-dump – a tall conical peak of waste rubble from the clay mines. As Lucy’s troubles increase, the clay-dump swells, threatening to swallow both Lucy and her home.

Jack Clemo’s short story The Clay-Dump is an allegorical tale set in the rural-industrial China Clay-mining region of St Austell in Cornwall. Although best known as a poet, Clemo began his career as a novelist and writer of fiction. This special limited edition pamphlet of his last-written work of fiction, has been put together for the 2016 Jack Clemo centenary and includes artwork by Tony Martin.
