Mario Petrucci — Isha Upanishad
ISHA UPANISHAD
The Isha Upanishad (or Sri Isopanisad, or Ishopanishad) is among the shortest yet most valued of the Upanishads. A complete metaphysical treatise in miniature, it delivers a meditation on the nature of Soul and Self. This new English version gathers the original’s terminology and many nuances into the verses, which stand without footnote or commentary.
Mario Petrucci is a poet and award-winning translator whose books include i tulips (Enitharmon), anima (Nine Arches) and 1111 (Perdika), as well as translations of Montale’s Xenia (Arc) and a collection of Hafez’s poetry, entitled Beloved: 81 poems from Hafez (Bloodaxe). Mario was the first BBC Radio 3 poet-in-residence and poet-in-residence at the Imperial War Museum.
The Isha Upanishad is printed on Mohawk Superfine with debossed yantra cover detail. Cover design by CF Sherratt.
