O. AT THE EDGE OF THE GORGE

As much a celebration of vividly lived experience as daunted by the ruinous passing of time, the voice in these poems is an Orphic one. It contemplates a journey into the ‘depths of the gorge’ and the dangers or redemption that lie there. This fourteen-poem crown of sonnets – filled with the landscape and natural history of the Marche of east Italy – is the latest work by award-winning poet and translator Martyn Crucefix.

Crucefix has written seven full collections including The Lovely Disciplines(Seren, 2017), a new version of the Daodejing (Enitharmon, 2016) and a translation of Rilke’s Sonnets to Orpheus (Enitharmon, 2012).

O. at the Edge of the Gorge has been beautifully illustrated and designed by Phyllida Bluemel and printed and bound with a mix of techniques to achieve a simple elegance.

The illustrations are litho printed and French folded and the book is printed using Mohawk Superfine, newspaper stock, and Gmund Bier papers, in a limited edition of just 200 copies.
